What's a fret dressing?

The frets on your instrument are
are just like the tires on your car.
Performance is directly related to
the condition, the newer the
better. Unfortunately when tires
wear out you need to replace
them, but when frets wear you
can recondition them 1-2 times
before replacement.
The neck is leveled and the frets
are then filed down to an even
plain.
The crown is now re-cut on each
fret to a perfect peak. The frets
are now step sanded and polished
to a mirror shine.

When you see
significant
fretwear, (similar
to frets on left)
it's time to re-level
them and re-crown
the tops.
